A lot of serendipitous things happened for our family to land here in Bedford! As with all dreams, time, prayer and action play a roll in the birth of your dreams into tangible reality. This farm was no different. Early 2025, my husband retired from his long standing career and we started to look for property. And I got VERY excited. My garden space was MAXED out in our suburban home. The small plot taught me a lot about growing. My longing and excitement for growing on a bigger scale increased every year. So his retirement, freed us to look for land anywhere. We looked all over Virginia. I just happened to grow up pretty close to Bedford, so this place felt like a coming home for me. We put in a contract on the property. On closing day, I whipped out some VERY large tomato starts — much to our lovely realtor’s chagrin — and planted them after closing. So at this writing, we are 3 months into our new place and the first set of beds are in and producing.
And boy, do we have plans! I hope that this farm will produce lots of produce, culinary herbs, medicinal herbs, love of nature, and a chance for growth in all areas of our family and the community!
